How to Help Afghan Refugees and Haiti

We know that many are trying to find ways to help both the Afghan refugees coming to our area and those in Haiti dealing with the aftermath of the recent earthquake. We've heard of a few ways you can help in each area, and are sharing those below. If you know of other ways to help, or other organizations involved, let us know by emailing Mary Beth Inman.

Afghan Refugees

Southview Community Church in Herndon is having a Flash Donation Drop TOMORROW, Thursday, August 26, from 8 AM - 2 PM to help the refugees. They are collecting gently used or new items:

  • Shoes (all sizes)
  • Clothes (all sizes)
  • Underwear (all sizes)
  • Diapers/EasyUps (all sizes)
  • Personal wipes (individually packaged)
  • Baby formula in bottles (individually packaged)
  • Pedialyte (individually packaged)
  • Snacks (individually packaged)

Address: 2620 Reston Parkway, Herndon, VA 20176. Drive up and drop off items under the green tent.

Several NorthStar churches are partnering with Lutheran Social Services, which is providing aid to the refugees entering Virginia from Afghanistan. Samaritan's Purse has opened an Emergency Field Hospital to provide lifesaving medical care to Haiti's earthquake-devastated communities. Click here to read more and give to support their response.
